Christine Davis (“Chris”) is a Director in the Litigation and Forensic Consulting Services Group of Hemming Morse. She is a licensed CPA in California and New York. In addition to being a Certified Public Accountant for fifteen years, she is a Certified Valuation Analyst and holds the Certified in Financial Forensics credential issued by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (“AICPA”).
Chris has served as a consultant on numerous high-profile cases relating to securities litigation, accountant’s professional liability, fraudulent financial reporting, international accounting standards, and economic damages. Much of her work involves the evaluation of available evidence to determine whether an entity’s reported financial statements were prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”), and whether the audit or review of those financial statements was conducted in accordance with prevailing professional standards, such as generally accepted auditing standards (“GAAS”) and PCAOB standards. Her work had involved Sunbeam, Allegheny Health, Education and Research Foundation (AHERF), Cisco, Enron, Parmalat, Aon, NextCard/NextBank and Countrywide, among others. She has also testified as an expert witness in deposition and trial on cases involving insurance bad faith disputes and employment matters, including the landmark disability bad faith case Hangarter v. Paul Revere and Unum.
Chris received her Bachelor’s degree from Golden Gate University in San Francisco, and is a member of the AICPA, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants (“CalCPA”), and the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts. In addition to being a speaker for the CalCPA, the Continuing Education of the Bar of California, and New York’s Practising Law Institute, she is a regular contributing writer for the California CPA, CalCPA’s monthly publication.
Her personal interests include art and tennis. She resides in San Francisco with her husband and has two daughters in college.
